Biography
Hello, my name is Ron Redwing. I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Although I joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in only 2016, I have been at Penn State for over fifteen years, the last five as an Associate Dean in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Before that, I was in the Department of Physics, starting as an instructor and finishing as a senior lecturer. I am originally from Missouri and received my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. In addition to my teaching duties here at Penn State, I am currently setting up a laboratory to grow 2D layered bulk crystals. These crystals are similar to a nano-material we will be discussing in the course, graphene. When I am not working at Penn State or trying to keep up with my family members, I enjoy catching a game or sports highlight on television of one of my favorite sports teams: the Kansas City Royals, Wisconsin Men's Basketball, or Penn State Football.
