Biography

Andy James is the Course Author and Instructor of BA850 - Sustainability-Driven Innovation at The Pennsylvania State University.
In addition to this role, he is the Sustainability Manager of New Pig Corporation, one of the world's foremost manufacturers of environmental cleanup products.

He currently sits on the Sustainability Council of the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, as well as the Industrial Advisory Board for the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Systems (RESS) Program of The Pennsylvania State University. Past positions include the Board of Governors for The Automotive Communication Council, as well as The Idea Engagement Task Force of The Advertising Research Foundation.

He is also the Publisher of The Waste Minimization Forum and a co-creator of PIG Difference.
He has been an invited or keynote speaker at organizations as diverse as the Thomas J. Hindelang Business Professor Teaching Summit, the National Etailing and Mailing Organization of America (NEMOA), numerous corporations and consultancies, and other courses at University Park.

Andy left high school to begin as a full-time student at Penn State at age 15, and was then invited to become a Schreyer Honors Scholar. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Sustainability and Environmental Management from Harvard University.

He was the Senior Manager at Olson Zaltman Associates for seven years, where he provided consumer behavior research and brand strategy consulting to some of the world's greatest brands, including Audi, T. Rowe Price, Pepperidge Farm, MillerCoors, and, later New Pig. He would spend 5 years as Brand Manager at New Pig before becoming their first Sustainability Manager.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons among nature just outside State College, PA. He enjoys all things mechanical, has been awarded research grants for his studies on synthetic lubricants, has been in the water with great whites, and is beginning work on a new book.
