Biography

Dr. Milwood is a 2011 Fulbright scholar and graduate of Temple University’s School of Tourism & Hospitality Management. She received her BSc. (Hotel Management) and Executive MBA (General Management) degrees from The University of the West Indies at Mona, Jamaica, and has twenty-five years managerial experience in Jamaica’s hospitality sector.

Her research focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation, social innovation performance, and destination management organizations (DMOs) in tourism destination networks. She has presented at numerous international conferences, and is the recipient of the 2014 Best Paper Award for the Advances in Destination Management Conference in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Dr. Milwood serves on the Editorial Review Boards for the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, and Tourism Review.

In collaboration with her colleagues at Temple University, York University, and The University of the West Indies, Dr. Milwood has published in peer-reviewed journals on subject areas which include the role of DMOs in the orchestration of innovation networks; entrepreneurial ecosystems in tourism; and social innovation performance among hospitality and tourism MSMEs in the Caribbean.

At Penn State Berks, Dr. Milwood teaches hospitality-centered courses in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Operations Management, Strategic Management, and multi-level courses in Food Production and Service Management.

Dr. Milwood serves on Penn State Berks Diversity Committee and is a member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA).
